Mississauga, ON, Canada
Full Time
Manager/Supervisor
About Rodan Energy
Rodan Energy is a North American leader in energy intelligence and distributed energy resources, enabling a more reliable, cost-effective, and decarbonized grid. We partner with large energy users, utilities, and grid operators to design, optimize, and operate high-impact DER solutions.
Make the grid smarter and our clients’ bills cleaner—one settlement at a time.
We’re adding a hands-on Energy Markets Settlement Manager who will own end-to-end settlements (with IESO experience required) and lead a team of two analysts. You’ll turn complex charge codes into accurate, auditable client invoices, drive dispute recoveries, and partner closely with Data Management and Data Science to automate data flows and exceptions. You’ll report to the Director, Energy Markets and collaborate with Real-Time Operations and Finance.
Markets: IESO (must-have); experience in PJM/NYISO/MISO/AESO is strongly preferred, with a willingness to learn quickly across markets.
Settlement Operations
- Own monthly/weekly settlement cycles for IESO (energy, capacity/RA, ancillary services, uplift/variance, transmission, distribution riders).
- Perform shadow settlements from meter/telemetry and bids/offers; reconcile ISO statements and LDC invoices; investigate variances and root causes.
- Translate market rule changes into repeatable settlement logic and controls.
- Lead the dispute/notice workflow (e.g., IESO Notices of Disagreement), track recoveries, and maintain evidence files.
- Build/maintain SOPs, control matrices, and audit trails; coordinate internal/external audits.
- Produce accurate, on-time client invoices and settlement packs (summaries, line-item detail, variance notes).
- Create executive dashboards for avoided costs, program performance, transmission/capacity value, and savings attribution.
- Partner with Data Management to improve ingestion from MDM/SCADA/telemetry sources and ensure data quality, lineage, and reconciliations.
- Work with Data Science/Engineering to automate charge-type logic and exception handling; enhance tools for pricing curves, loss factors, tags, performance factors, and uplift allocations (SQL/Python/BI).
- Manage, coach, and develop two settlement analysts; set KPIs and coverage models for peak periods.
- Work cross-functionally with Markets, Real-Time Ops, Finance/AR, and Client Success to resolve issues before they impact clients.
- 5–8+ years in power market settlements with direct IESO experience.
- Working knowledge of additional ISOs (PJM/NYISO/MISO/AESO) or strong aptitude/willingness to learn fast.
- Advanced Excel; solid SQL and/or Python for data wrangling/reconciliation; BI experience (Power BI/Tableau).
- Proven variance analysis/root-cause skills; disciplined about accuracy and on-time closes.
- Experience creating SOPs, internal controls, and audit evidence; confident engaging with ISOs/LDCs on disputes.
- Clear, concise communication—able to translate charge codes into client-friendly explanations and exec summaries.
- Nice to have: DR/BTM storage settlements, telemetry/MDM data structures, capacity/performance factor mechanics.
- >99.5% invoice accuracy and on-time close every cycle.
- Dispute program delivering measurable recoveries with reduced cycle time and a tracked win rate.
- A standardized client settlement pack adopted across portfolios.
- Automated pipelines and exception dashboards cutting manual effort by 30–50%.
- Documented SOPs & control matrix; clean audit with no material findings.
- Two analysts performing at a high level with clear KPIs and cross-coverage.
- Mississauga (Hybrid): in-office 2 days/week at Rodan’s Mississauga office; flexibility the rest of the week.
- Occasional travel for client meetings, audits, or team onsite (≈ 5–10%).
- Competitive base salary + performance bonus.
- Comprehensive health & wellness benefits.
- Group RRSP employer matching.
- Professional development and growth within a scaling energy platform.
